January Madness

Well, this was my first season as head coach of a middle school team and it was quite interesting.

This year seems to have much earlier ending that last year, so we are embarking on our end of season tournament today -- that's right, January Madness, baby!!

There is a big difference in coaching middle school students as I found coaching a 12 and under AAU team this past summer, but school team with 13-4 year old boys is another ball game all together. Once things start clicking they make a pretty good team. We have recently gone 3-1 but I won't go into our record before that (1-8). Rebuilding is always fun and frustrating at the same time.

Looking forward to next season and this summer for AAU.

Go RAMS!!

Another win last Monday night in overtime 49-48. Came back from 16 points down in the fourth quarter to be up 1 point until game tied then led overtime by 5 points going into last 1:30.

The boys are really playing well together.

Yesterday and today we did some grueling drills that are so much fun at the same time that the boys were begging to run them some more.

At young age groups you have to keep the attention of the kids by coming up with games they can have fun with while learning some fundamental concepts. It is great when it works so well. By the end of today, our center was shooting 3-pt baskets like it was second nature to him.

Fun stuff.

Nadi even did one of the around the world drills with us and 3-on-3 drill with a dead ball.
