Hope everyone is enjoying the day off. Remember, the best way to celebrate the life of those who gave their lives to ensure we continue to do what they fought so hard for: the pursuit of happiness. ;)
That means break out the BBQ pits and enjoy the day.
The boys and I had the pleasure of attending the annual grave decorating ceremony at
Dayton National Cemetery, the 2nd largest
veteran's cemetery outside of
Arlington, on Saturday with the
cub scouts of Centerville's (OH)
Pack 148 amongst others. Kevin, Kaleb, and I attended and loved every minute. We were given bundles of flags and went around placing one flag per grave of our
veterans. It was a wonderful sight to see, leaving the cemetery, as every grave was flying a flag.
The boys were dressed in their class A cub scout uniforms, so they looked very official and seemed to take the activity to heart. They learned the importance of not letting the flags hit the ground and learned how to handle their own bundle while kneeling to plant flags.
Think they learned alot about why we celebrate, but the crowning moment was the helicopter fly by accompanied by the three gun salute.
Until next post...
Peace be with you,
Kevin
